ORAL PRESENTATION UNIT 6. THE CRAZY HOTEL

Helloooo!! For this unit, as you started with Nadia  in the last English lesson, you have to create a CRAZY HOTEL. Look at the example:

Sleep in a beer can

To do this,  you must:

1. Create a powerpoint presentation (IMPRESS, EMAZE, PREZI...)
2. Put a name for your original hotel.
3.You can use photos of strange hotels  that you like from the net.
4. Describe your hotel briefly.
5. Create rules for different aspects of the hotel:

      a. Timetables: Check in and check out, restaurant timetables...
      b. The clothes and work that the hotel staff have to wear and do.
      c. Things that the guests can do or cannot do at the hotel.
      d. Things that the guests and the staff mustn't do at the hotel.
      e. Price per night and room, with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
      f. Extra services the hotel  may offer the guests or might not.
      g. Recommendations for the guests. What should they do.../ought to...

IMPORTANT!! EVERYONE IN THE GROUP MUST SPEAK THE SAME NUMBER OF SENTENCES.

ORAL PRESENTATION: ECO-FRIENDLY CONTEST!!

In pairs,  imagine your are going to participate in a contest about "The most eco-friendly hign-school in the world". So, you have to design a green school and explain to the class how you made it.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

1. Choose a classmate for this activity and send me an e-mail to tell me.
2. Make a power point presentation with pictures and text, where you describe your invented green school.
3. Tell  why your school is eco-friendly
4. Explain why your school is the best green school  to win the contest.

REMEMBER: THIS IS AN ORAL PRESENTATION: YOU MUSTN'T READ ANYTHING, BUT SPEAK!!!

UNIT 2: DIY OBJECTS

DESCRIPTION OF OBJECTS MADE OF RECYCLED MATERIAL

PLAZO: NEXT WEDNESDAY 7TH DECEMBER

 HI, pupils! This is the new activity to do in your blog.

1) Search on the internet for TWO interesting objects that you can make by using recycled materials.
Example:

 

2) Invent a name for your objects.
3) Explain what these objects are and the recycled material used to make them.
4) Give your opinion about why you like it.


Example:

  " A plastic car, a cheap toy"

This object is a toy car.  It is made out of recycled materials: plastic and tin. Particularly, the car is made with a plastic  bottle and the wheels of the car are made with plastic caps and beer caps too.

I like this toy very much, because it is funny, easy to make and safe for children.

**Useful vocabulary and expressions:

• Something is made out of= Algo está hecho de ...
• Something is made  with = Algo está hecho con ...
• resused= reusado
• recycled= reciclado

WRITING UNIT 7: THIS IS BRITAIN.

Let's continue learning about Great Britain,so for the writing of this unit you are going to write about festivities and customs of the British people.

Here you are some pages to look for a celebration you like most:

WRITING: Write a report about the most curious or strangest celebration or festival for you in the UK. You must write from 80 to 100 words and must include the following elements:

1. Use sentences in the PRESENT SIMPLE AND PAST SIMPLE PASSIVE, describing:WHERE, WHEN it is celebrated,  WHAT people do, what food is eaten , WHY it is celebrated and  HOW people feel with that tradition.
2. Use the vocabulary of the unit, including connectors.
3. Follow this structure:

INTRODUCTION: - Name of the celebration, city or village where it is celebrated, region and date.

2nd PARAGRAPH: - Describe the festivity or tradition: what it is about, people who can participate, the first time it was celebrated.

3rd PARAGRAPH: what food is eaten , what's the purpose on celebrating it,why it is so popular and  how people feel with that tradition.

CONCLUSION: Give your opinion about this curious festivity.

TIPS FOR THE WRITING OF UNIT 4

WRITING UNIT 4 TIPS

1. Choose three fashion styles and three situations in which you wear them.
2. Describe the clothes of the three styles.
3. Inlcude a photo of your styles.

VERY IMPORTANT:

• The text must be a POWER POINT PRESENTATION  and post it on your BLOG.
• The text is divided into 3 parts: you must describe the three photos fully.
•  You must use AT LEAST 2 ADJECTIVES to describe each piece of clothing, not only colour or size adjectives: material, pattern, opinion...
•  You must also say why do you think that your clothes are appropriate or not for each situation.
